The aim of the party is to promote the independence of western Canada (i.e., the provinces of British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba) from the rest of Canada.
According to Elections Canada, the government agency that oversees political parties and elections in Canada, the Western Block Party is "eligible for registration", but is not yet a registered party.
He was a former leader of the Western_Canada_Concept, and this party is largely viewed as a successor to that party.

 Western Independence Party
The Western Independence Party is a Canadian political party that advocates the separation from Canada of the provinces of British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba to form a new country.
The party was founded in 1987 by a group of Albertans who were dissatisfied with the direction of another western separatist party, the Western Canada Concept (WCC).
Party policy was adopted at the founding convention and was expanded at a policy convention in Saskatoon in April 1988.

To someone who has lived in Western Canada all their life, the answers are so self-evident that the question seems almost an insult to one's intelligence.
Soon after shifting from a western regional party to a "national" party as Reform became more concerned with becoming the government, they realized this idea could not be made popular in Ontario, which had all the seats they needed to win the government.
Ottawa prefers to view western resources, be they oil, r fish or forest or grain, as a cash cow to exploit and reallocate to voters in the populated areas of Ontario and Quebec where that wealth translates into political power for them in Ottawa.

Alienation runs so deep in the Western part of Canada that unless there are some serious changes in the near future Canada's breakup is inevitable.
I agree Western Canadian Independence would be great, however I fear that there would far too many problems agreeing upon a Constitution and I believe this would again create division.

The name Saskatchewan is derived from a Native Term.
I think that saskatchewan in cree must really mean "destined to be a socialist sinkhole for all of eternity." If that isn't the real meaning of the word saskatchewan, then some sort of curse must have decended upon the land here.
Another thing that has gotten to me lately is that if Saskatchewan, 20 years ago, would have had the political and economic sense that Alberta had we would be rolling in moolah.

I am looking to the possibility of supporting a party whose policy is not one for total central government control, which is what we are experiencing now and have experienced for many many years.
