The Western Railway is one of the 16 zones of Indian Railways, and is among the busiest railroad networks in India.
The Western Railway was created on November 5, 1951 by the merger of several state-owned railways, including the Bombay, Baroda, and Central India Railway (BBandCI), and the Saurashtra, Rajputana and Jaipur railways.
In 2002 the Jaipur and Ajmer divisions of the Western Railway became part of the newly-created North Western Railway, and in April 2003 the Kota division of the Western Railway became part of the newly-created West Central Railway.

Typical of most of his contemporaries in the western counties, Van Winkle remained devoted to the new state cause, while he detested the antislavery Congressmen's proclivity to ride roughshod over States' rights, a view which a century ago was the rule, and not the exception.
Until 1850 western Virginians were convinced that their interests were being consistently sacrificed to those of the counties east of the Alleghenies.
The eastern-dominated state legislature neglected the economic development of the western section, he maintained, because it was to the advantage of the Tidewater and Piedmont sections.30 Discontent in the western counties, however, was virtually eliminated in the decade preceding the war.

The first chain, that is the western one, is merely the prolongation of the Northern Apennines, and extends from Bocca Serriola to the highland plain of Gubbio, to terminate on the low plain of Foligno.
This is a chain that extends from the Sella di Conza to the Scalone Pass and is bounded by the Sele River, the Ofanto with its affluent the Locone, the Bradano and its affluent the Basentiello, the coast of the Gulf of Taranto, the Isthmus of Calabria, and the Tyrrhenian Sea.
In peninsular and in insular Italy the winter rains, on the contrary, are heaviest, and the absence of drainage causes the waters that overflow from the river-beds to inundate the lowlands of the coast and thereby to develop malaria.

Western philosophy is a line of related philosophical thinking, beginning in Ancient Greece, and including the predominant philosophical thinking of Europe and its former colonies up to the present day.
Western philosophy has had a tremendous influence on, and has been greatly influenced by, Western religion, science, and politics.
Today, however, what generally distinguishes philosophy from other Western disciplines is the notion that philosophy is a "deeper" and more rational, fundamental, and universal form of thought than other disciplines.

SparkNotes: Abraham Lincoln: Important Terms, People and Events
Peninsular Campaign - · The Peninsular Campaign of 1862 was the Union's first sophisticated effort to lay waste to Richmond and the Confederacy.
In the Civil War, there were two main theaters: an eastern theater centering around Richmond and outlying areas of Northern Virginia, and a western theater that ran along the banks of the Mississippi River, gradually pushing eastward as the war extended and the Union armies penetrated further to the south.
Fremont saw significant action as a general in the western theater during the early stages of the Civil War, but was relieved of his duties after freeing several slaves in an unauthorized show of abolitionist spirit.

 Encyclopedia: Gustavus Swift
A railroad car (or, more briefly, car), also known as an item of rolling stock in British parlance, is a vehicle on a railroad or railway that is not a locomotive - one that provides another purpose than purely haulage, although some types of car are powered.
As early as 1842 the Western Railroad of Massachusetts was reported in the June 15th edition of the Boston Traveler to be experimenting with innovative freight car designs capable of carrying all types of perishable goods without spoilage.
Swift's attempts to sell this design to the major railroads were unanimously rebuffed as the companies feared they would jeopardize their considerable investments in stock cars and animal pens if refrigerated meat transport gained wide acceptance.

The appearance of Jesus and the introduction of Christianity influenced the tradition deeply, but during the dark ages the ancient Western mystery tradition was heavily opposed by the Christian Church and many figures associated with it were victims of the Inquisition, especially the witches and members of secret mystical societies.
After the dark ages, the preservation of the secret teachings of the Western mystery tradition was endangered again during the Second world war, due to the Nazi regime in Third Reich's Germany.
These two examples, although not directly associated with the core of the Western mystery tradition, demonstrate a pattern which supports the claim that the Soviet-controlled states were negative not only to mainstream religion but also to mysticism and occultism.

Vicksburg was particularly fortunate in its rail connections because it became an intersection of a north-south line, the Grand Rapids and Indiana, and an east-west line, the Peninsular Railroad, later becoming the Grand Trunk.
