| | Western Literature in a World Context (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-29) |
 | | In our experience, this thematic approach to the literature of Western and non-Western traditions helps students to synthesize an otherwise unwieldy array of diverse texts and traditions in the two-semester or three-quarter sequence of most Western Literature, World Literature, or Humanities courses. |
 | | As you can see from the tables of contents for Volume 1 and Volume 2, Western Literature in a World Context is divided into the six periods usually studied in Western and world literature courses: the Ancient World, the Middle Ages, the Renaissance, the Enlightenment, the Nineteenth Century, and the Twentieth Century. |
 | | The other works of Western literature in each section, ordered chronologically by the author's birthdate (or presumed date of composition), further develop, challenge, and elaborate the themes and stories in the representative texts. |
