  NationMaster - Encyclopedia: Westland Wasp
The Westland Wasp was a general purpose helicopter, basically a derivative of the British Army Scout helicopter, with the requirement of being small enough to land on Royal Navy frigates.
During that war, a Wasp, operating from HMS Endurance, the Antarctic patrol ship, launched a number of torpedoes which homed in on and heavily damaged the Argentinean submarine Santa Fe, which posed a risk to the British Task Force that was steaming towards the Falkland Islands.
The Westland Wasp, powered by the Rolls-Royce nimbus 503 engine was developed as a light anti-submarine and anti-surface warfare helicopter carrying 2 target-seeking torpedoes for operations from small ships and was the first of a new generation of gas-turbine powered light helicopters.

RNZN Wasps are preserved in the Royal New Zealand Air Force Museum in Christchurch and the Museum of Transport and Technology in Auckland.

The initial Wasp user was the RN who took 98 aircraft for use on 'Leander' class frigates.
Four further Wasps were purchased in 1981 (arriving by 1983) to operate from the newly acquired HMNZS Southland and HMNZS Wellington, and for training.
The retired RNZN Wasps were purchased by Westland, although NZ3906 (c/n F.9570, ex XS543) has been passed to the RNZAF museum, and NZ3902 (c/n F.9679) is in store at the Devonport Naval base for the Navy museum.

The Wasp also had a folding tailboom, as well inflatable floatation gear carried in pods that looked like fuel tanks, mounted on struts alongside the upper fuselage, and of course featured the folding main rotor used on the Scout.
Westland did consider a new TOW carriage arrangement, optional T800 engines, and a wide range of other enhancements for the AH.9 as the "Battlefield Lynx" for the export market, but nobody bought off on the idea.
The Westland 30 civil transport helicopter derivative of the Lynx had been anticipated to an extent by an earlier concept, the Westland "Model 606", which was a Lynx with a fuselage stretch to accommodate up to 13 passengers, and uprated engines to handle the greater takeoff weight.

The definitive Wasp was mainly intended for ASW from frigates of the Tribal and Leander classes and similar vessels; for this purpose it could carry one or two 122kg torpedoes or 250kg of depth charges.
The Wasp differed from the Scout mainly in the long-stroke landing gear with fully castoring wheels and the small tailplane on the starboard side of the tail rotor pylon.
Wasps were also supplied to the navies of Brazil, the Netherlands, New Zealand and South Africa.

I managed to find some plans on the internet of both the Scout and the Wasp, by studying the plans I could see the main differences between the Scout and Wasp was the undercarriage, with the Scout having skids and the wasp having a complex strut/wheel setup.
The Scout has a single tailplane that sits under the rotor and on the Wasp it is at the top and on the opposite side of the rotor so the tailplane was cut in half and glued to the top.
