Brewtopia Belgian Trappist Brewery Visit - Westmalle
The monastery of Westmalle, located slightly northeast of Antwerp, is primarily known for its outstanding example of a Belgian Triple ale.
Westmalle Dubbel registers at 5.5 percent alcohol by weight and around 7 by volume.
The abbey at Westmalle and the Cafe Trappisten more than make up for this and are certainly worth the drive from any point in Belgium.

 Westmalle in a Westvleteren Bottle
This was the first time I’ve seen this, a Westmalle dubbel in a Westvleteren bottle, which has the word "Trappistenbier" on a ring around the neck of the bottle, and the words "ABDIJ Westvleteren" on the main body of it.
Can’t say about Westmalle using those bottles, but the bottle of Westy 12 I had on Christmas Day was in a similar bottle (raised neck ring with the same wording.) That one had a BBD of August 2008 and was purchased in late 2005.
Westmalle have their own bottle with ’Abdij Trappisten Westmalle’ or simply ’Westmalle’ brandished across the neck of the bottle, or Trappist Westmalle ringed affront the midsection of the bottle, I’ve never heard of the opposite.

A part of the profits is used for the monks and the abbey whereas the rest is allocated to charities Moreover, communication and advertizing must respect the religious environment in which the beer is produced.

 Westmalle - Beers
Both the Dubbel and the Tripel are considered by many tasters as the benchmarks for the style.
Westmalle Dubbel was first brewed for consumption within the Abbey around 1836; Westmalle Tripel was introduced in 1934.
The 25.4 oz (750 ml) Westmalle Dubbel and Tripel are sealed with a wire cage and an advanced, high-quality synthetic cork from Newcork.

The abbey of the Trappist monks of Westmalle exists since 1794 and is located at a few kilometers at the north of Antwerp.
The Westmalle Double has a dark red amber colour, has a consistent sensation in the mouth and a dry aftertaste.
To consume a beer of Westmalle, the advice is to taste it at 12 to 15° C in a typical Westmalle glass (for me the most beautiful that currently exists in Belgium) while trying to obtain a nice collar.
