Westminster is the only remaining vestage of a trend in the late 1800s in which the Protestants set up private primary and secondary schools and offer free tuition to children in order to try to convert them out of Mormonism.
College level classes were first offered in 1897 as "Sheldon Jackson College." It was given that name after a Presbyterian minister and its primary benefactor, Sheldon Jackson.

One has to bear in mind that Diana, more than anybody else, had been in the thick of issues connected with the Westminster Society for a considerable number of years, and I know that this decision hurt her considerably.
It is inevitable that new students will be Oxford Brookes students (why should new students have any allegiance to Westminster?) and despite all the claims to the contrary, Westminster College ceases to exist, and becomes a small part of a large corporate organization which, so the present disaffected students say, has little interest in Westminster.
As someone who valued his time at Westminster, and had an enormous respect for people like Trevor Hughes, the Principal, I still remain committed to Westminster College, and for this reason have kept the web-site in being, despite the opposition it has received from one or two on the current executive.
