Wet and Dry Seasons in East Central Florida
The Wet Season is typically considered to begin in the latter part of May and resembles "summer" across much of the remainder of the country.
The Wet Season is marked by a daily inland progression of the Atlantic and Gulf of Mexico sea breezes as a low pressure trough develops across the peninsula due to surface heating.
The Wet Season in east central Florida is commonly referred to as the "Rainy Season." Though not as dramatic as the Monsoon circulations elsewhere in the world, the Florida peninsula has many of the same climate characteristics and certainly can be classified as "Monsoon-like" or "Monsoonally influenced" with a distinct wet-dry seasonal rhythm.

Season - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
In the temperate and polar regions, seasons are marked by changes in the amount of sunlight, which in turn often cause cycles of dormancy in plants and hibernation in animals.
It's a common misconception that the seasons are the result of the variation in Earth’s distance to the sun due to its elliptical orbit.
When the solstices (peaks) are used as the middle of each season, as is in Jieqi and East Asian countries, the longest day of the year occurs in the middle of summer, and conversely the shortest day of the year in the middle of winter.

The Pacific season is divided into two - the humid and slightly hotter "wet" season, and the less humid, slightly cooler "dry" season.
North of the equator (Micronesia) the more favoured dry season is between November and May. Hawaii is far enough north that winter and summer seasons are used as opposed to dry and wet, although here cyclones can still be a threat from August to November.

Gouldian finch wet season off to a flying start -- WWF-Australia
The recent increase in reported sightings included flocks of 100-400 birds in the Arnhem Land, Douglas-Daly and central Kimberley regions in late 2005 and is giving scientists and wildlife managers hope that Gouldian finch populations might be recovering.
According to Dr O'Malley, who chairs the National Gouldian Finch Recovery Team, these changes are impacting on the availability of wet season grass seed resources to the extent that birds are potentially not surviving the lean times at the onset of the wet season.
WWF is hopeful that it could be another big year for Gouldians, and flock sizes may increase again provided fire and grazing pressure are carefully managed across their savanna habitats.

If you are a contractor or geotechnical special inspector who will be conducting earthwork activity at a project with a grading season restriction or in an Environmentally Critical Area (ECA) during Seattle's wet season (Oct. 31-April 1), you will need to obtain a Grading Season Extension Letter from DPD to avoid a stop work order.
Similarly, grading season restrictions applied to projects in non-ECA areas must be completed or stabilized by Oct. 31 of each year (SMC 22.804.160 A).
Applications for grading season extension may be submitted before the building permit is issued; however, the application will not be reviewed until the applicant notifies the DPD geotechnical reviewer that the permit has been issued.

If you are a contractor or geotechnical special inspector who will be conducting grading activity in an Environmentally Critical Area (ECA) during Seattle's wet season (October 31-April 1), you need to start planning early to obtain a dry season extension letter from DCLU and avoid a stop work order.
