Wetherspoon plc (LSE: JDW) (usually called Wetherspoons) is a pub chain based in the United Kingdom.
Wetherspoons pubs have a standard pub menu throughout the country and serve a variety of cask ales, having over 650 Cask Marque accredited houses.
On January 24, 2005, JD Wetherspoon announced they would be banning smoking throughout the chain, the first UK chain to do this, with all new openings from that date to be non-smoking, 60 others were to become non-smoking on May 19, 2005 and phased in all other branches through to May 2006.

Wetherspoon is the latest in a list of pub and bar groups to warn that tighter consumer spending, particularly in London, has hit profits and analysts have warned that its warning has ramifications for the whole industry.
Wetherspoon, which at one stage was opening 100 pubs a year, said in early November that comparable sales for the past three months had risen by a healthy 5.3%.
Wetherspoon investors have also been wary, with the company's shares losing more than half their value in the last 12 months.

I would just like to say a big well done to Wetherspoons who did everything they could, just before the fight broke out the panic buttons were pressed and the police were called who, can I just add, didn't get there for 10 minutes after being called from numerous customers and staff.
