| | Matterhorn Pk - CW's info (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-22) |
 | | This Matterhorn Pk -- not the original one in the Swiss Alps -- is dwarfed between the two 14'ers Wetterhorn Pk (7/8 mi to the WSW) and Uncompahgre Pk (1.9 mi to the ENE, a figure Garratt & Martin have incorrectly as 0.9 mi). |
 | | I climbed Matterhorn immediately after climbing Wetterhorn, so you should see my account there for information on trailheads, camping, etc. One climb ends and the other begins at about the 12,200 - 12,300 ft level in the meadows 1/3 mi S of Matterhorn's summit. |
 | | Those attacking just Matterhorn, or climbing it first to warm up for Wetterhorn, can stay on the main Matterhorn Crk trail to about the same elevation before exiting left for these same slopes, which gradually steepen and begin to show rocks. |
