  Birding at Wheatley Provincial Park
At 241 hectares, Wheatley Provincial Park, located just 10 kilometres east of Point Pelee National Park in southwestern Ontario is an ideal location for birders, naturalists and adventurous campers.
Wheatley Provincial Park is considered the, ‘Bedroom for Point Pelee National Park,’ a term coined by Park Superintendent, Chuck Fawdry.
At the park observe the birds live for yourself at the 30-foot tower at the Marsh Boardwalk facility or the viewing platform located on the tip area.

 South Western Ontario
This park is located near the community of Grand Bend It is somewhat out of the way for diving, except for the Kettle Point site.
There is no camping in the park, but there are numerous places to chose from around the area.
Several creeks provide canoeing within the park, and plenty of beach access is available on the lake.

On parking the car, we met four British birders from Derbyshire who were on their way home but making a late try for Gray Jay (unsuccessfully, we learnt later).
Park at the lot at the end of the road and walk in about one mile to one mile.

As we were driving through a lot of the photos had to be taken through the bus windows so I really only got a few reasonable pictures.
Right by the park is the 9 hole Talbot Trail Golf Course which is highly rated by the locals

Rondeau Provincial Park is a penninsula of land located on the north shore of Lake Erie east of Point Pelee and approximately 20km southeast of Blenheim.
Because Rondeau Provincial Park is a good sized peninsula and has a large variety of habitats, it is an ideal stop-off point for migrants - especially in spring, and home to many breeding birds after the spring migration.
The remainder of Andrew Haydon Park, located north of the traffic light intersection of Carling and Acres Road, is a manicured parkscape of lawn, with scattered trees and artificial ponds.

You can park on the south side, there is a small pull off area with a chain across the drive.

For most serious birders, a trip to "the tip" on the first tram (6:00am, just before dawn) is the way to start a day at the park.
The fee booth at the entrance to the park opens early so you can get down to the parking area at the Visitors Center with plenty of time to load up.
I'll also be doing photo-essays on Kopegaron Woods, Wheatley Provincial Park and Rondeau Provincial Park, all birding hotspots that can rival Point Pelee on many spring days!
