Wheels Car of the Year   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-14)
Chrysler's Charger is the winner of the WHEELS Car Of The Year Award, the most important award made to the Australian motor industry.
Normally with a brand new car Chrysler goes through the routine of a styling mock-up, followed by a life-size model in clay from which a template is taken and the car converted into aluminium.
It wasn't until WHEELS first broke the story in our rundown on the VH sedans in July that the news of the short wheelbase coupe leaked out - and even we thought it was a replacement for the old Hardtop rather than a new car in its own right.

Audi S4 Project Car Update - Wheels, Tires and Brakes - european car Magazine
When the wheels are tested by JWL (the Japanese equivalent of D.O.T. for wheels), the passing criteria requires a wheel to be able to spin one million times under preloaded weight to be considered road-worthy.
With the addition of the Stoptech brake kit in the front, and the Volk wheels and the Toyo tires all around, the S4 lost a total of 13.6 lb per corner in the front, and 7 lb per corner in the rear.
Due to the lost rotational weight from the wheels, tires and rotors, a faster turn-in response, resulting in less effort in steering input, is a noticeable side effect.

The wheels themselves are bespoke for the Z06, claimed to be lightweight, and definitely both light and strong in appearance, with plenty of open area to let you admire the bright red calipers and the big vented brake discs.
Through all the years, through all the 4.3- to 7.4-liter V-8 powerplants that raised performance to awesome levels, Corvettes had brakes that were just not as good as those of the competition, even when four-wheel discs arrived.
When we blasted this year’s ultra-high-performance models—the Porsche 911 Turbo, the BMW Z8, the Ferrari 360 Modena, and the Z06—around the very tight confines of the Waterford Hills racetrack, we were as confident of the Z06’s stopping ability as we were of that of the European thoroughbreds, and that’s saying a great deal.
