Where Eagles Dare - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Where Eagles Dare is a 1968 movie directed by Brian G. Hutton and starring Richard Burton, Clint Eastwood, and Mary Ure.
The title is taken from Act I, Scene III in William Shakespeare's Richard III: "The world is grown so bad, that wrens make prey where eagles dare not perch".
The driving force behind the film was Richard Burton's son, who wanted to see his father in a good old-fashioned adventure movie.

 Where eagles dare live
About 20 miles south of where the water was released, marshes in Lower Klamath National Wildlife Refuge are drying up -- and the federal government has not sent or committed a drop, even though it is the winter home to about 1, 000 bald eagles, the largest concentration in the lower 48 states.
Eagles feed on the ducks and geese that begin arriving at the refuge in September.
The eagles obviously have no clout in the capital; a threatened lawsuit, however, just might assert their right to a share of the scarce water.

Starring Richard Burton and Clint Eastwood, "Where Eagles Dare" is a wonderful adventure story placed in the Second World War.
Not surprisingly, "Where Eagles Dare" quickly became a box office sensation and Eastwood’s most successful film at the time.
Some edge-enhancement is evident in a number of shots, especially some of the nighttime outdoor scenes where the silhouettes contrast against the sky or the snow.

Where Eagles Dare is an intriguing affair: a Boys' Own style yarn that is a complete work of fiction and seems to have no loftier goal than to thoroughly entertain its audience.

If you have seen stunning close-up photographs of bald eagles with fish in their beaks in glossy magazines in the United States, Europe or Asia, chances are good that they were shot outside Keene's trailer.
Unlike in the Lower 48, where bald eagles have recently recovered from the brink of extinction, in Alaska the birds have never been endangered or threatened.
By enabling bald eagles to behave badly, her critics say, Keene lends credence to what Ben Franklin said about bald eagles in the late 18th century.
