Where no man has gone before - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
"Where no man has gone before" is a saying used in the introductory sequence of all but one of the episodes of the original Star Trek science fiction television series.
The new quote "where no one has gone before" was supposedly then adopted as the mission and motto of the following starships Enterprise.
The modified quote "where no one has gone before" was first included in the introductory sequence of Star Trek: The Next Generation to make it gender-neutral.

Where No Man Has Gone Before (TOS episode) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
"Where No Man Has Gone Before" was the second pilot episode of the Star Trek: The Original Series.
The crew's uniforms are the same as those used in "The Cage", with collars the same color as the rest of the tunic (instead of fl, as in subsequent episodes); this proved confusing to viewers when NBC chose to broadcast "Where No Man Has Gone Before" third in sequence, on September 22, 1966.
This feat has never been undertaken successfully since there is a seemingly impenetrable energy barrier surrounding the entire disk of the galaxy.

Where No Man Has Gone Before
"Where No Man Has Gone Before" went where no television pilot had gone before: after NBC rejected Trek's first pilot ("The Cage"), Gene Roddenberry was given a second chance to prove the viability of his "Wagon Train to the stars" concept.
The broadcast version of "Where No Man Has Gone Before" (see below for information on the original version of the episode) has no "Space…the final frontier" voice-over, nor is there the "swish" sound effect as the ship flies by during the opening credits.
Significant differences exist between the original version of "Where No Man Has Gone Before" (the one submitted to NBC) and the version that was later televised.

For post-Apollo recommendations, no action had been taken on 29 percent, 9 percent had been implemented, and 62 percent were in various stages of study.
For manned exploration the most immediate need was to extend the 500-meter (0.3-mile) range of an astronaut on foot to more than 10 kilometers (6.2 miles) by means of some kind of surface mobility aid.

It would be an end in itself, needing no justification in terms of its contribution to some larger goal, and it would demonstrate the nation's superiority in space technology to all the world.
NASA might conduct studies to show that man could go to the moon, and scientists might argue that manned space flight was of doubtful value, but Congress and the president would have to make the commitment, and the decisive stimulus was still lacking.

By now Mitchell has been transported to the surface of the planet and declares that he is a God.
Dehner is now aware of the danger Mitchell has become to all of them and helps Kirk, who would have had no chance against his powers.

Kirk has one of his toughest situations all series in "Where No Man Has Gone Before"; in fact, other than deciding the fate of his beloved Edith Keeler, the choice to betray and strand his best friend to protect his ship may be the most painful sacrifice he's called upon to make.
"Where No Man Has Gone Before" was Gene Roddenberry's first effort (well, second, but no audience then had seen "The Cage") to show that science fiction could be far more than ray guns and evil aliens trying to take over the universe.
When Dehner begins to change, she tells Kirk that Earth is unimportant, that before long she and Mitchell will be where it would take mankind millions of years to get otherwise, and Kirk points out that without compassion it's all meaningless.

Now if we make an assumption that the ship in WNMHGB is reasonably similar to how it appeared with Pike in "The Cage" then we may assume Kirk assumed command prior to the ship being refit and looking rather different during the series.
After all, a lot of what was written in there was only ideas of where they wanted to take the series and some of that made little sense once the series ran it's course.
Granted the novel has no official standing, but it was interesting nonetheless considering she wrote the novel several years after TAS (which she was an integral part of) where we indeed saw Robert April.

Some scientists think that this means that Voyager 1 has passed the termination shock while others argue it has only crossed a sort of "foreshock", a turbulent region which exists just before the actual termination shock.
No spacecraft has actually been there, so we can't say just where it is. Scientists also theorize that the termination shock can expand and contract and even ripple!
If, in fact, Voyager 1 has crossed the termination shock, it will have entered a region called the heliopause, where the solar winds and interstellar winds are balanced.

Mitchell is portrayed in word and deed as an arrogant and manipulative man from the beginning ("I mapped out her whole campaign for her"), a contrast to Dehner’s observant and empathetic if somewhat reticent character.
My whole point is, where did a simple Trek episode become a soap-box for a writer and I use the term loosely,(“Tin Man” wasn’t all the great of an episode,) to discuss the social/political structure underlying a character.

Some of their dissatisfaction stemmed from specific actions of the manned space flight organization and the scientists' perception of their significance, some of it from disagreement with the priorities of the program.
Manned space flight, which he supported, had its own reasons for being, but they were not necessarily scientific.
The fact was that no eminent research scientist was willing to give up research for a career (or even a year's tenure) as a research administrator; yet Whipple, Dessler, and other scientists continued to urge NASA to find such a person to manage the science programs.

The entire world was locked to their TV set when Neil Armstrong made it down the ladder and uttered the words that describe exactly what the effort made by the US was, a gaint leap for mankind.

While the TOS-R team has proven themselves technically proficient with their enhancements, they are patently incompetent when it comes to deciding what to keep and what to change.

I’m guessing that the math has been done and that the potential loss is balanced by long-time Trek fans who will now start watching their station’s offerings (and, their advertisers’ products) because they (the fans) want to see a cleaned-up version of TOS, and some level of re-do of the FX.
