The White Cloud is so named because it originates from the White Cloud Mountains- the latin name translates to albo=white nubes=clouds the Tanichthys is in honor of a young boy named Tan whom brought these fish to the attention of Lin the scientist who described these fish.
The White Cloud is not picky at all will take flakes readily, but if you want to spawn these fish it is recommend that they be feed brine shrimp, daphnia, and other live foods to condition them.
The white cloud is a schooling fish the more the happier they will be (get no less then 6 of them.) Can be a community fish work well with zebra danios and other similar fish.

The White Cloud Mountain minnow can be found in most dealers in both tropical and coldwater tanks, so one can immediately see that it is very adaptable.
White Clouds can be kept in unheated indoor tanks at temperatures of between 16ºC and 22ºC/61-71.5ºF. In fact, I have found their colours are stronger at the higher end of this range.
In summer I keep White Clouds in large container on my patio, and at the end of the season when I bring them back indoors, there are always a few more additions.

Big picnic trade fest if you still have extra white clouds I would be delighted to give them a good home I will bring the java moss for the gal that wants it I am still looking for a good home for a pair of gold gouramis: they might both be boys.
I have them in separate little tanks at the moment, they need a home of at least 20 gallons to live together.

They are called White Cloud Mountain Minnow, but normally people just called them White Clouds.
The name is quite ZEN if you asked me. They've got white reddish body, a red tail with fl dot, a silver line on the body with blue neon eyecap, almost like a neon tetra.
However they will eat neon tetras (neon are so hard to keep!), white clouds are bigger.
