White County is a county located in the U.S. state of Arkansas.
The county was formed on October 23, 1835 and named for Hugh Lawson White, a Whig candidate for President of the United States.
In the county the population is spread out with 24.40% under the age of 18, 12.80% from 18 to 24, 27.20% from 25 to 44, 21.90% from 45 to 64, and 13.80% who are 65 years of age or older.

This gentleman is one of the pioneer settlers of Searcy, Ark., and was born in Wayne County, Tenn., in December, 1823, being one of eleven children, the result of the union of Jesse and Jemimah (Warthen) Cypert, the father a native of North Carolina, born 1781, and the mother of Pennsylvania, born 1783.

He was born in Jackson County, Ala., in 1826, and was the eldest in a family of nine children, born to the union of Elihu and Margaret (Jones) Neavill, the father a native of Alabama, and the mother of North Carolina.
Charles E. Newman, farmer, fruit grower and educator of White County, Ark., was born in Madison County, Ill., on Feburary 17, 1844, and is the eldest of six children born to William E. and Martha A. (Harrison) Newman, the former a native of Madison County, Ill., the latter originally of Kentucky.

Few specimens were found in the mid-1970's in the Wabash River in Posey County, Indiana and a small tributary in Pike County, Indiana but is uncertain whether the fat pocketbook populations in these areas are still viable and reproducing.
