  Movie Review: White Noise
While the movie White Noise is billed as a suspense thriller with a story written for the big screen, it also purports to feature a real meethod of communication between our world and the one inhabited by the departed.
The movie uses its poetic license to assume that EVP is exactly what it is purported to be: a way for those who have died to send messages back to those of us still living.
White Noise is interesting from the standpoint of EVP and it has its moments.

White Noise - Movie News, Movie Gossip and More - White Noise
White Noise, a bone-chilling tale of a man and his obsession with Electric Voice Phenomenon (EVP), successfully delivers the scares that were lacking in the past year's Horror titles.
Confusion reigns throughout "White Noise," whose unhappy hero finally sees something like his wife in the static and finds himself enmeshed in what could be either an epidemic of serial killings, some spooky paranormal invasion, or both.
The movie is desperate to lure people looking for something that reminds them of "The Ring," "Signs," "The Sixth Sense," "Ghost," "Ghostbusters," or "Poltergeist." This, in fact, is the sort of diminished knockoff that could have benefited from a little Whoopi Goldberg or the appearance of a giant destructive marshmallow.

Is it The Sixth Sense…No!, is it Poltergeist…No! It’s White Noise, the story of successful architect Jonathan Rivers (Keaton) who’s peaceful life is turned upside down with the unexpected and strange death of his pregnant wife Anna (West).
Although the story isn’t strong, White Noise is an entertaining film that does work and holds the attention of the viewer with its combination of cold-blooded tension and uneasy serenity.

White Noise - Movie Review by Faizan Rashid - TEN Movies
'White noise' is a movie so gimmicky, so preposterously ridiculous in its presentation of an intriguing concept that after dispensing its initial idea it dissolves into a dreary tale of suburban loss and cheap boo scares.
Like other recent horror movies, such as 'The Grudge' it has an idea that seems just ripe and readymade for a horror movie, that of the dead communicating with their loved ones via the use of everyday technology and devices such as television, radio and mobile phones.
The only good thing about movies like 'White noise' coming out during the beginning of the year is that they manage to set the bar for lousy flicks really low, so we know we won't be witness to anything more perverse.

White Noise (2005) Movie Review by Jack Moore at The Movie Insider   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-06)
White Noise may be one of the most appropriately named films of the past few years; after about an hour of Geoffrey Sax's hum-drum horror dud, everything just washes together into one big mess of crackling static.
White Noise is based on the real life occurrence of E.V.P.—Electronic Voice Phenomenon—where the voices and images of the deceased are recorded in the White Noise created by modern electrical devices.
White Noise fails for a lot of reasons—bad acting, terrible writing, and nonexistent scares—but its biggest flaw is in how it uses E.V.P. This phenomenal happening (hoax or not, who knows) is probably better suited for a drama than a horror film, and it certainly deserves a smarter screenwriter than Niall Johnson.

'White Noise' - MOVIE REVIEW - Los Angeles Times - calendarlive.com
Though, should any actual bestselling writers of international renown happen to wander into the audience during the movie's early scenes by mistake, they might be dismayed at the sight of Anna swanning around the master suite of her suburban McMansion in a lacy lilac half-slip girlishly clutching a positive pregnancy test to her bosom.
"White Noise" begins as an overlit paean to trophy-wifedom and "lifestyle" living, then practically gets down on its knees and begs to be called "a stylish thriller." The movie straitjackets Keaton into a humorless, table-pounding role, preferring to let his real estate holdings, art collection and quietly expensive clothes do the talking.
These Three Enemigos of "White Noise" are well beyond not nice, though, and in their zeal for evil they wind up altering the basic premise of the movie until it morphs into something else altogether.

White Noise is a Universal Pictures release directed by Geoffrey Sax and was released in theaters on January 7, 2005.

This is probably the best medium to view the movie, besides the fact that it is definitely not worth paying to see in the theatre.
