  Star Wars: Droids - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
In 1986, Marvel Comics' Star Comics imprint published a Droids comic book, which was based on the cartoon series.
The comic series took place from about 10 BBY - 6 BBY, unlike the TV series which was placed around 15 BBY.
Significant issues include #4, which crossed over with the Ewoks comics series, and # 6-8, whose story was titled "Star Wars According to the Droids", retelling the original film complete with new scenes told from the perspective of the droids.

 Critical Mass - Comics full circle
Comics have advanced vocabularies (as Mark Evanier said, you can always tell which kids read comics: they are the only ones who know what invulnerable means) and are heavily allusive.
The problem is society still thinks of comics as aimed at the elmentary school market, even though the average age of a comic reader today is 24 or 25.
I seriously doubt that the time it takes to read comic books is going to crowd other materials out of the curriculum, but the fact of the matter is that without more information none of us knows the total picture of what is (or is not) being taught.

Stylistically I have to say comics, since they were the artwork that I chose to look at, and they contained, and still do, an aspect of fantasy and emotion that is very close to my heart.
After the pin-up of White Witch came out, I got a call from a DC editor asking me if I'd like to illustrate a story from them, and to my surprise, I turned him down.
However most comics are not painted nowadays, even though if you ask a non comic book reader what is better art, something painted and something of comparable quality done in pen and ink, their answer will be almost without exception the painted work.

They are, at least in theory, a near-perfect combination of art and story, allowing an excellent degree of creator control, which in turn allows creators to communicate in a very direct and effective way with the reader; in my opinion, the message-delivering ability of manga is second only to cinema.

I've been curbing my comic purchases lately, but since last week was pretty light, I picked up another Fantastic Forces Heroclix booster--I couldn't wait until this week's release of the Armor Wars set to buy something new.

It appears to be a significant one in the history of the strip as the setting of it changes from modern times to ancient times when Shining Knight and his sidekick, Sir Butch, decide to stay in Camelot for the duration at the tale’s end.
