The round whitefish is also known as the menominee, pilot fish, frost fish, round fish, and menominee whitefish.
While the round whitefish is not well studied in Ontario or in the U.S., it is known to spawn in late October to December, generally later than lake whitefish, near gravelly shallows in lakes and at rivermouths, and occasionally even in rivers.
Although there's a lack of angling knowledge or interest in round whitefish in Ontario, I feel this is mostly because few anglers are even aware that they exist, not because of a scarcity of the fish.
