  DailyGame Review: Whiteout [PS2] [Xbox]
Mediocrity has a new name, and that name is Whiteout, the new snowmobile racing title from Konami.
What’s odd is, this game has a lot going for it in many areas such as graphics and terrain variety, but the overall experience is a snoozer.
Whiteout is gameplay at its simplest, which is probably why it’s so insanely dull.

 G4 - Feature - 'Whiteout' (PS2) Review
Originally conceived as a straightforward snowmobile racing simulation, "Whiteout" was developed by Vicarious Visions, the group responsible for the PSOne's excellent "Polaris SnoCross." Now, this revamped racer keeps players at the controls of these high-octane sleds.
The goal in each race is to get to the finish line as soon as possible, shredding past the competition and pulling off as many tricks and stunts as you possibly can along the way.
In this sense, "Whiteout" falls short of "Sled Storm" or even "Arctic Thunder." The subtle weather and daylight effects make for a decent variety of atmospheric touches, but that aside, the graphics seem quite dated and are in many ways reminiscent of a mid-'90s arcade game.

 IGN: Whiteout Preview
August 29, 2002 - Barely on display at this year's E3 and somewhat of a mystery since our first report on it in December of last year, the latest build of Whiteout is beginning to show the improvements we had hoped it would possess in its earlier forms.
Whether you're zooming over the snow at a regular pace or utilizing one of the many turbo boost power-ups, the motion blurred landscapes are moderately realistic and offer up a good sense of speed.
Unfortunately the build we have only appears to work appropriately in one stage (the first one), but by production's end should feature a healthy amount of different terrains and scenarios to traverse, along with a career mode and personable riders with unique tricks and stunts to accompany them.
