This area was in Knox County at the time Morgan was born, but was taken from Knox to form the new County of Whitley in 1818.
This is not entirely accurate, as the county was not formed until he was 14 years old, but his parents home was taken into that new county, and he did indeed live in Whitley County, first on Patterson Creek and later on Meadow Creek, for the next ten years, until he married.
This area in the northern part of the county was taken from Livingston County to form the new County of Grundy in 1841.

The family lived in Boyle County, Ky. and in Casey County, Ky. through the 1850's and 1860's so either could be the place of his birth.
Worth is in Tarrant County.) One account has the date of his death as the same as his mother's which is probably a mistake.
But then after her marriage she and Wiley settled first in Casey County where they were living during the 1850 Census and then she and Wiley were in Boyle County, Kentucky for the 1860 Census.

The suit, filed by Corbin attorney David O. Smith on behalf of Whitley County resident Paul Cummins, claims Elliott lied on campaign forms regarding his residency when he filed to run for office.
