		Whitney is the second album by American RandB singer Whitney Houston, released in 1987 (see 1987 in music).
		The album became the first album by a female artist ever to debut at #1, and produced a then-record-equalling 4 #1 singles from one album (though this was broken by Michael Jackson in 1988).
		The album still holds the record for a female with the most #1 songs from one album (though tied with Paula Abdul's 1989 debut Forever Your Girl, Janet Jackson's 1989 album Rhythm Nation 1814 and Mariah Carey's 1990 debut album).

		I would rather have heard Whitney sing her version of the original song than this travesty (maybe my dislike for hiphop is influencing my judgment a bit here).
		Another cooperation is the song "Heartbreak hotel" (which has nothing to do with Elvis's song) on which Whitney seems to fullfill a wish of being in a girl singing group like the Spice Girls by teaming up with Faith Evans and Kelly Price.
		They pull it off OK and their voices work together nicely on this song (although I'm not a big fan of Faith Evans since the terrible "I'll be missing you"; Kelly Price I've never heard of).

		Iknow, I know… but you can't really blame her when you consider it was 1987 and she really needed a video for "I Wanna Dance With Somebody." It's a great song and a very… colourful video.

		I own "Janet" also, and although I do love the singles from the album, and the bad-ass videos she made for them ("You Want This" was especially awesome), that's all I listen to off the album...the singles, plus, "Where Are You Now" (a gorgeous song).
		I have not bought a Whitney album since her first (Not counting "Waiting to Exhale" soundtrack -- I bought that for the Brandy cut and the Babyface factor) but I have heard everyone of her other albums and I have never been able to stay interested throughout the whole any of them.
		Whitney will always be the fave of the AC set, Mariah will probably end up most successful in an increasingly more R&B direction, and that will leave Madonna and Janet floundering about - the usual repercussion for any artist that has the nerve to not be pinned down to any genre.
