 | | Eating whole grain foods reduced cancer risk in the oral cavity and pharynx, esophagus, larynx, stomach, colon, rectum, liver, gall bladder, pancreas, breast, endometrium, ovary, prostate, bladder and kidney, the study found. |
 | | Respondents with cancer were grouped by the amount of whole grain foods they ate, as well as by their age and cancer type. |
 | | In explaining these results, the researchers noted that, compared to refined grains, whole grains are much richer in fiber and several nutrients, such as antioxidants, which are generally recommended as an important part of the diet. |
