It stands to reason the legend surrounding the naming of the Why Not village in North Carolina and the naming of the Whynot post Office in Lauderdale County, Mississippi, is one and the same.
In 1840 there were Spinks in the Old Whynot area as well as the Alamucha area who where born in North Carolina.
The correct name is "Whynot", and it just could be the man who was tired years ago left a legacy...the name "Whynot." It caught the attention of people years ago, and it catches the attention of people today.

The fans at Whynot Motorsports Park were on their feet as the feature race began with a four abreast salute to the fans.
Hattiesburg Mississippi’s Lincoln Gatwood needing a good finish in order to keep Morgan in sight in the points, worked his way up through the field of cars and was able to finish in the fourth spot in the feature.
Whynot produces some great racing action with its sweeping turns and the CSA drivers love racing on this track.

Whynot Speedway will also host a StormPay.com Dirt Late Model Series National Touring event, a two-day $5,000-to-win race on September 1-2.
Whynot Speedway joins Pike County Speedway in Magnolia, MS, as well as Columbus, MS tracks Columbus Speedway and Magnolia Speedway.

Until 1905 much of the area in North Carolina that is now called Seagrove was known as Whynot.
If you know of another community or pottery named Whynot please e-mail me and tell me where it is and what you know of it.
So far the only other Whynot I know is in Mississippi just south of Interstate 20 at the Alabama state line.

 Flash! - O'Reilly SUPR vs. MSCCS at Whynot
Whynot Motorsports Park reopened in 2006 with 2002 O'Reilly SUPR Champion Rodney Wing at the helm.
Wing purchased the track earlier this year and returned dirt track racing excitement to Meridian, Mississippi after closure last year of Queen City Speedway.
Whynot has a long racing history but has sat dormant for several years before Wing's purchase.

The win tonight was Ashley’s third in the last five SUPR races.
At this point, Ashley, who had been challenged by Chris Wall for several laps got up on the wheel and pulled away to a big lead over Merchant, Boland, Baggett and Bub McCool with Chris Wall fading to sixth at the checkers with battery problems.
The race was slowed for several cautions as the drivers sorted out the Whynot racing surface that proved to be plenty racy with three distinct racing lines.

It would take years but the project would create many jobs at a time when jobs are needed.
If the Mississippi was flooding, the pipeline that would be required to move enough water to make a dent in the surplus would have to be so large as to be impossible.
And the amount of energy used to pump water from the Mississippi to California (over those Rockies would be tough) would be immense.

Billy Moyer and his #21 team traveled to the Whynot Motorsports Park in Meridian, Mississippi over the weekend for the annual ’Fall Classic.’ On Friday, October 27, Billy topped his group during group qualifying.
Billy ran a solid race during the course of the 100-lap feature event, eventually taking the lead for several circuits.  However, a soft tire combination plagued the National Dirt Late Model Hall of Fame member and Billy wound up finishing sixth in the final rundown of the unsanctioned race.
The Batesville, Arkansas based team will invade the Pike County Speedway in Magnolia, Mississippi for the annual ’Jambalaya 100.’ An open practice session will take place on Thursday, November 2, with qualifying and heat race action slated for Friday.

This track is a short but direct half-mile ride, during which the train makes a 360º twist upside-down and then right-side up again.
After Lyn-Lake, the ride continues on to many other stops including the Mall of America, the airport, downtown St. Paul, along the Mississippi river, underneath the university, and right back to Hennepin Station.
Problem is, I don't have the money nor the time to make it happen.
