Wick (Inbhir Uige in Gaelic) is an estuary town in Caithness, in the Highland area of Scotland, on the main highway (the A99-A9 road) linking John O Groats with southern Britain.
Wick is within the parish of Wick and the parish has that of Latheron to the south, those of Watten and Bower to the west, and that of Canisbay to the north.
Wick was a parliamentary burgh, combined with Dingwall, Dornoch, Kirkwall and Tain in the Northern Burghs constituency of the House of Commons of the Parliament of Great Britain from 1708 to 1801 and of the Parliament of the United Kingdom from 1801 to 1918.

Immediately N of Wick Bay is the smaller bay of Broad Haven, and all along the coast from Noss Head-on the SE of Sinclair Baysouthward are a number of narrow creeks with steep rocky sides, and locally known as goes.
The parish is traversed for 6 miles by the Georgemas Junction and Wick section of the Highland Railway, with stations at Bilbster-9 miles ESE of Georgemas and 5 WNW of Wick-and at the town of Wick.
Wick is in the presbytery of Caithness and synod of Sutherland and Caithness, and the living is worth £445 a year.

NHS Highland is to suspend the deliveries of babies at Caithness General Hospital in Wick because of a staffing crisis.
NHS Highland said it would suspend deliveries from Friday at 1700 BST until it was in a position to have sufficient locum cover.
Highland Councillor David Flear said he was opposed to the move as it could place pregnant women and their babies in danger.

The North Highland Archive has a huge range of items which can be consulted in person in our office at Wick Library, Scotland - free of charge.
Brenda Lees archivist at the North Highland Archive had a night out to say farewell with her friends and volunteers from the Archive in Wick.
These give the name of the householder and were produced yearly, we hold rolls from 1878 for Caithness and from 1883 for Wick burgh, to the Council Tax returns for 1994.

We are very grateful to the Georgeson’s staff for their help during the long process of clearing out the storeroom, and for offering us the opportunity to access such valuable material.
The index will include names of staff at the various schools within Wick burgh and parish; also pupils in receipt of bursaries etc. This is particularly useful for schools where admission registers do not survive.
I would be very grateful to hear from anyone else who would like to share their expertise on some aspect of Wick and Caithness in years gone by.

Oliver (Bannockburn, Woodlands Academy), who for the past two seasons has been the team's "Most Improved Player" in voting done by her teammates, was 15-3 at No. 5 singles this season and earned a third place finish in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin tournament.
Sophomore Lindy Wick (Highland, Breese Mater Dei) was chosen this year's "Most Improved Player" and sophomore Deanna Deschler (Champaign, Central HS) was elected captain for the 2002 team.
Wick was 14-4 at No. 6 singles, where she finished third in the CCIW championships, while Deschler was 11-7 at No. 1 singles.
