Wickford is a town in the South of the English county of Essex, with a population of more than 32,500.
Wickford has its fair share of pubs (The White Swan, Quart Pot, Darby Digger, Downham Arms and the Duke) and it is served well by transport to London, Basildon, Billericay, Rayleigh and Southend-on-Sea for these other entertainments.
The southern end of the town centre, and the western approach to Wickford, are proposed to be a vibrant area for nightlife, according to the Masterplan, with scores of cafes and restaurants dotted along the London Road.

Wickford in Rhode Island USA is said to have got its name from the Essex town after a woman called Elizabeth Reid married a Governor of Connecticut, John Winthrop.
The movement of people out of London at the end of World War II had a large effect on Wickford, which is conveniently situated in the commuter belt.
Little is known about the early history of Wickford, but the Roman invaders left their mark the old Roman settlement now lies buried under the houses at the bottom end of Beauchamps Drive.

Besides marina dockage, there are moorings available from the Wickford Yacht Club in the outer harbor on your starboard side as you enter, and you can anchor in the outer harbor as well.
One needs to check times, however, as Wickford is truly a village and late hours are not the general rule.

At 4pm a Wickford man out playing with his kids in the garden saw 2 white orbs travelling across the sky.

That year the Wickford Art Association was founded to promote Wickford as an art center by encouraging the production, exhibition and sale of works of art by local and other artists.
