Wide Awake Club - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Wide Awake Club (often abbreviated to WAC) was a highly successful children's television series broadcast in the United Kingdom on ITV's breakfast franchise TV-am between 1984 and 1989.
However, in 1990 it was relauched as WAC '90, a longer programme broadcast from Granada's studios in Manchester (as opposed to TV-am's in London).
However, that was not the end of the Wide Awake Club franchise as Wacaday continued until 1992.

 Filmtracks: Wide Awake (Edmund Choi)
Wide Awake: (Edmund Choi) In one of his first and few solo scoring efforts for a feature film, Edmund Choi employs a large orchestra and choir for a comedy children's genre film.
Wide Awake was produced by an orchestra of 90 players, as well as the full American Boychoir, and the resulting sound seems oddly overblown for the film.
Wide Awake indeed has its powerful highlights; the choral tracks, as well as those orchestral ones that build the title theme, are examples.

Wide Awake is a smoother, more polished movie with a less porous emotional texture, a better-realized story, and more fully-rounded characters.
While it's true that the script for Wide Awake isn't all that ambitious, too often relies on the exposition of an overly-verbose narrator, and includes a few necessary contrivances, what makes the film special are the numerous individual moments that shine.
I left Wide Awake feeling the same way I did after seeing a number of Frank Capra's movies -- I was aware of the problems, but that didn't diminish the warm, fuzzy glow I was experiencing.

In this time period, especially with the Live Aid performance of "Bad", the public was 'wide awake' with anticipation for what this band would do next, which put quite a bit of pressure on U2 for their next LP.
Wide Awake in America is an amazing follow up to a good album.
So here's a little hint for Island records: either expand Wide Awake in America (stuff from Live Aid or more b-sides) or keep it as it is and charge an EP price for it.

Although his last album was also hit-or-miss in terms of concepts and music, it felt more successful to me because at nearly seventy minutes it had time to be sprawling and a bit unruley while at the same time taking more chances.
I'm Wide Awake, It's Morning runs a fairly concise forty-five minutes long and when tracks start running into one another with very little to separate them, it tends to go in one ear and out the other.

Wide Awake In My Head is a musical ramble that touches everywhere from Holly to Costello.
Wide Awake In My Head allows us to wander through the basement and attic of the years 1989-2003: years which yielded cassette EPs, cassette albums, cassingles, and CDs - the majority with Velvet’s long standing institution
It’s a complete testament to the wandering soul of a musician who writes lyrics that center around the appreciation of love, the beauty of nature, and what some would term the left leaning politics of the anti-war, peace-loving, sub-culture of the 60s.

Pat Benatar - Wide Awake In Dreamland
Wide Awake in Dreamland was to be Pat Benatar's final album of the decade, though she would continue releasing a few more studio albums and plenty of live albums throughout the 90's and early 2000's.
Benatar took a three-year break between her previous release, Seven the Hard Way, and this one, which may be part of the reason why it wasn't as commercially viable as her earlier works.
While the album wasn't spectacular, and could even be considered a bit disappointing when held up against her other works, Wide Awake in Dreamland was a solid album.

Rolling Stone : Wide Awake In America : Review
But while Under a Blood Red Sky served a slightly deeper purpose – it was the group's first live record, and it capped a stage in U2's evolution as a band – Wide Awake in America is more a curio that will be of interest primarily to die-hard fans.
U2 has always been the kind of group that reinvents its songs onstage – tearing them apart, stretching them out, giving them an entirely different feel – and never was that tendency more apparent than on the Unforgettable Fire tour.
The reference is to a line from "Bad," but the implication – that the songs were recorded during the U.S. portion of the group's tour – is misleading.

Digital Ash has the claustrophobic feel of a singer locked up with a computer, and it's distractingly chipper, like Rilo Kiley in their own Dntel homages; not every Bright Eyes record has to be an emotional epic, but Digital Ash feels like a practice run.
If Digital Ash sounds like indie kids breaking into pop, its sister disc, I'm Wide Awake, It's Morning, is a red-blooded folk album that's coincidentally built to be hugely, hugely popular.
