Wikipedia:WikiProject - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
A Wikiproject is designed to co-ordinate the efforts of several users, and to allow a group of conceptually related pages to have similar structures and appearance.
However, using a WikiProject adds a considerable amount of additional effort and administration and it only begins to deliver value once several users are actively involved.
Switching to a WikiProject is fairly easy—and certainly it is a lot easier than doing all the WikiProject work upfront, only for it to go nowhere.

 Wikipedia:WikiProject : WikiProject
A WikiProject is a page resource devoted to the management of a specific family of information within the WikiPedia.
It is not a place for information, it is a resource about that information: how it should be formatted, what should be included etc. The attached talk pages also provide a convenient meeting point for those interested in a particular project.

Wikipedia:WikiProject Universities - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
WikiProject Universities is an attempt to formulate a template for the college and university articles.
This WikiProject aims primarily to structure all college and university articles.
The article should start with a good introduction, giving the full complete official name of the college/university, detail about location (in suburb, downtown, where?), founder and founding name, and affilation with any larger university system, if applicable.

 [Wikipedia-l] Metacomments
I went on to explain that the only people who are in any way bound by a particular WIkiProject's standards are the people who have agreed to be part of the WikiProject.
Everyone else should feel free to add or edit articles the way they see fit and if that does not conform to a WikiProject's standards in a radical way then members of that project can reformat the additions to work best for their project.
Of course knowingly going against a WikiProject for combative reasons is still bad form (if you want to change the format you should try to convince the WikiProject members that it is a good idea).

This WikiProject also hopes to come up with a standard for the interpretation of copyright, and fair use in particular, in the scope of comic book articles.
It is my (leigh (φθόγγος)) proposal that, if there is interest, we create a family of hierarchical WikiProjects under this one, such as manga, comic strips (including webcomics), superhero comics, etc. Note that there is already a WikiProject Anime and Manga that appears to be fairly active.

the Tree of life, already in existence.) A WikiProject is a metadata page that serves as a reference point for those who wish to be involved in a specific project.
The WikiProject is a 'central authority' (thus providing the benefits of stability), but the WikiProject page itself remains consensual and dynamic.
However, as the volume of contributors increases the work required to maintain the WikiProject pages is substantially less than the work required to correct the fragmentation of style and content, and the duplication which will otherwise occur.

 Wikiproject group - Meta
New project ideas often start as meta-pages on an individual wiki, and are slowly noticed by the members of other similar projects and eventually encouraged to use similar formats and nomenclature.
It is currently quite hard to find the set of wikiprojects one is interested in; there are dozens of places to look in English alone; with few interlanguage links or links to multilingual meta-pages.
For wikiprojects which will require significant new infrastructure and development, or an outlay of cash or other resources, describe them here.
