 Wikipedia policy - Wikipedia
Quite the contrary, as you will see on editing policy.
We have literally made up these rules as we've gone along, and your input on the policy and process is still welcome.
If there is some problem with it, one should edit it so that the problem is gone, or, in some rare cases, some of us have taken to moving content temporarily to /Talk pages where particularly egregious bias can be removed.

Wikipedia:Protection policy - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The policy on not editing a protected page does not apply in the same way to the semi-permanently protected pages.
Feel free to update the page as needed, but make sure that changes you make to this policy really do reflect consensus, before you make them.
Administrators have the ability to protect pages such that they cannot be edited, or images so that they cannot be overwritten, except by other administrators.

Wikipedia talk:Editing policy - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
This is probably more of an etiquette question than a policy question, but I didn't find a page on that subject.
Anyway, what I'm wondering is if there is a 'policy' for when someone wants to comment several times in the same talk/voting page.
Change note: I changed "rephrasing while preserving content" to "rephrasing or accurate precis while preserving content", under acceptable reasons for removing material, which I think correctly interprets the existing policy.

 Wikipedia - infoAnarchy Wiki
The aim is not to write articles from a single objective point of view--this is a common misunderstanding of the policy--but rather, to fairly and sympathetically present all views on an issue.
The project is also essentially and self-consciously a wiki--which allows for general public authorship and editing of any page.
The project has received large numbers of participants from being mentioned, three times, on the tech website Slashdot--there were two minor mentions March 5 and March 30, and then a prominent feature (also featured on the community-edit tech website Kuro5hin) on July 26.

It also should be noted that the posting of copyrighted material that does not have the express permission from the copyright holder is possibly in violation of applicable law and of our policy.
Those with a history of violations may be temporarily suspended from editing pages.

Administrators are the largest such group, privileged with the ability to prevent articles from being edited, delete articles, or block users from editing in accordance with community policy.
It is created on the wikipedia.org website using a type of software called a "wiki," from the Hawaiian wiki wiki ("quick").
Its authors need not have any expertise or formal qualifications in the subjects which they edit, and users are warned that their contributions may be "edited mercilessly and redistributed at will" by anyone who so wishes.

The aim is not to write articles from a single objective point of view -- this is a common misunderstanding of the policy -- but rather, to fairly present all views on an issue, attributed to their adherents.
After a while, the site started to slow down to an extent where editing became almost impossible; several rounds of modifications to the software provided only temporary relief.

A Criticism of the Wikipedia: with Mark Pellegrini and Philip Sandifer
Your article editing is very, very little compared to the enormous amount of "contributions" (to use the term loosely) to arbitration and policy issues.
Articles with a single picture are encouraged to have that picture at the top of the article, right-aligned.
Such problems not only result in poorly written articles, which are limited by the incompetence of the highest-ranking administrators; but, this arrangement also inevitably results in censorship, particularly in articles of interest to the site’s ranking members (as discussed in the next two paragraphs).

But if we restrict IP editing - even if we restrict it in some way, like with this blocking policy proposal - we'll get a worse encyclopedia.
It's called wikinfo (http://www.wikinfo.org), and no IP editing is allowed.
We *do* have a clone that requires that has restricted editing.

See the page about talk pages as well as the editing policy page.
The most widely-supported rule is: "If rules make you nervous and depressed, and not desirous of participating in the wiki, then ignore them entirely and go about your business." It is perhaps surprising, therefore, that the wiki is as well-disciplined and good-natured as it is. See the rules to consider page for more information.
Second, there are a number of important naming conventions with which participants familiarize themselves.

A point of terminology: the notion of refactoring, in the context of a wiki, means basically the rewriting of a page so as to preserve all the useful information on the page.
Please see Wikipetiquette for some suggestions on how you can avoid overusing talk pages in this way.
