There is also a link to Wikinews, a news source which combines other news sources to produce single articles from a neutral point of view.
One thing is that it is always nice to see something featured that I am actively interested in - such as when they featured the character of Link from "The Legend of Zelda" series of games that have been available for almost every game system made by Nintendo.
It is of course possible for someone to come along and write that Will Ferrell is in fact the inventor of Parcheesi I will address this point later in the article.

When there is such a large community, and there are people with conflicting views and pre-set agendas, the productivity becomes very low, as people spend more time arguing with each other, rather than writing new articles.
Also I think that today's featured article Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth is written from a totally Polish perspective, and should be rewritten to include more information about Litvin (Belarusan-Lithuanian) part of the Commonwealth.
For example, over the weekend I engaged in an edit "reversal war" with some Russians who attempted to insert all kind of Russian imperial propaganda into some articles ( Belarus, Belarusian language, Ruthenian language, Old Belarusian language).

I've been doing articles about in the press for a few weeks now on the Signpost, so it would be quite easy to keep track of the major coverage worth including in a quarterly.
I'd hope that the four articles to which I gave two stars will be at least serious contenders, and the ones to which I gave no stars will not get top ranking, but if there is, say, one exception in either direction I won't scream.

"Featured article" is a working title that I have borrowed from wikipedia, who have a similar system, but this is open to suggestions.
Part of the proposed new front page will be a link and brief summary of a "featured encyclopedia article": an article we consider to be comprehensive, factually accurate and representative of what we'd like all our encyclopedia articles to be.
Also, if the article is over 30kb any specified sections should, if possible, be moved onto sub-pages and the main article can be a summary.

Trivia lists and topics (aka lists important to some people and not important to other, as mav puts it) deserve their own space, and the wikipedia deserves to be free of them.
I agree with lists (I made List of Roman laws and worked in List of Roman legions with Stan, for instance), but some are hilarious and take credibility from the wikipedia.
But lists and other almanac-like articles by themselves are very necessary; such as en:List of elements by name or en:List of countries by population.

Because this page is so poorly updated, other than by the VFD Bot, I'm proposing to merge it with Biocrawler:Goings-on, where things like collaborations and new featured articles/pictures are maintained, because that page is kept more current.
I don't think it should be deleted; there need to be pages for the wikipedia community like this -- just look how the PCUSA page has improved to to its listing here.
I discovered this page when I found my name linked to it when I was a RFA candidate and since then I've tried to keep that section up to date.

Breaking up the "developing world" article seems like good sense to me. Simply listing every possible topic relating to the developing world under the same heading is disorganized.

I admit that I'm less opposed to the list of lists of math topics than I am to the religious topics one, because it seems to me that it would be less controversial and easier to control, because new articles would tend to fit nicely into what already exists.

List of Popes, List of British monarchs, List of Presidents of the United States are all likely to be fine, though.
