Non-English Wikipedia's Using Nofollow? - Google Blogoscoped Forum
English wp gets *much* more attention, and it's several orders of magniture less likely that anyone could get such commercial links into important articles on en.wikipedia without being caught well before some search engine bot submitted that link as appropriate for evaluation.
By contraposition, those who stay and write on xy.wikipedia are mostly those who don't know English, and there is a strong correlation between that and awareness of current IT problems, of which spam is surely one of biggest.
For example, I, although I love my country and language, cannot stand "my" localized wp.

Talk:Sigmund Freud - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
One can make the case one way or the other for Freud, but it seems to me that there ought to be some consistency across WP articles about Jews about whom it is known that their Jewishness played an important role in their lives, thought, identity, or career.
I simply sought information on Freud here on wikiPedia, and was left with a poor impression.
Freud's ideas are certainly much discussed today, and I would be the first to agree that they must be grappled with and dealt with seriously, if only because of their currency.

Slashdot Wikipedia's Accuracy Compared to Britannica
Where I suspect more errors abound in wikipedia is in the articles about things that a lot of people think they know a lot about, but in fact don't have any idea what they're talking about.
While it's nice to see that wikipedia is only slightly worse off in science, as the article said, it's still in general poorly written and still contains more errors than brittanica in the least error-prone subject.
I'm not going to use WP as a primary source for a research paper, but it's going to be the very first reference that I turn to when I want an overview of a topic.

 Wikinfo Wikinfo:Village pump/Archive 1
If wikipedia users do not want their user pages to be displayed for potential export into wikinfo then they should convince wikipedia not to export them via XML and should not put a GDFL notice on them.
Generally, we are not interested in WP talk pages, so your user page, which is linked by little else, had virtually no chance of being saved here in the first place.
Discussion and personal pages are not traditionally regarded as encyclopedic or parts of an encyclopedia and they reside in completely different namespaces from the encyclopedia, to keep them apart from the articles in that work.

This is generally considered chickening at WP; instead assume the contrary of this definition and by ways of extended subordinate clauses and historic trivia (this use was first reported in Western Tasmania on a note that allegedly the first mayor of Hogarth Ridge, Joe Doe issued on occasion of the Hogarth Spring Sweeping).
Similarly, their Al Gore article states that Al Gore was born to human parents, hiding the reality that he is an android prototype built by the Nike corporation.

 Wikipedia:Templates for deletion
Comment It will save wikipedia disc space because the history will only be spread out over the template rather than the whole article (it not being able to be in a section).
The fact that the proposed WP:COMIC guidelines are often spoken of as if they were iron-clad rules generates a lot of confusion, and this template is no help whatsoever.
These merely invoke Template:Infobox Country (not duplicate it), none of them act in any 'non-standardised' way, and all of them avoid having large slabs of infobox code at the start of every country article.

 Talk:Vulgar Latin - Wikipedia
I would love the Latin WP to be a vibrant community, and I'd participate in it, but the fact is that it is basically on the same level as the Klingon WP: a bunch of geeks pretending to be speakers of a language nobody speaks.
The way of writing of such people, who can't even communicate fluently in the language in question (I'm not claiming fluency in Latin either, but I don't presume to edit on that WP) is wholly irrelevant and should definitely not be taken as a standard.
Obviously their attempts to use Latin would have been flawed, but the important point is that, for them, it would not have constituted the vernacular, but would have been a literary language, as used by Bede and others of that period.

Talk:List of famous operas - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
If you list them all, perhaps pushing some of the excessively-prolific earlies into per-composer lists, you forestall endless arguments about significance, plus you can say "WP has a complete list of operas", which is a useful selling point when readers are considering where to go for their reference info.
For instance, when all the articles in list of ancient Romans are filled in, WP will be the top reference for Romans online, and a rival for the OCD to boot.
I'm on a crusade to make such "one-liners" a regular feature of lists in wikipedia.

Talk:Requests for new languages - Meta
Either one would be fine (many Buginese speakers I suspect are writing Buginese in the Latin script), though I would suggest the use of conversion software in this wikipedia so as to accomodate both Latin and Buginese scripts.
Comment: seems now it would be better for all its supporters to move Test-wp/bug/ and begin to create a test wiki for dedicating Buginese; preparing its main page, some test articles and some principle policies and guideline (including NPOV and copyright, specially what is GNU FDL in your language...
It seems to me then, that both scripts should be used in the Buginese wikipedia since both are used in writing Buginese.

 4Reference Top 10 Google hits
It is very noticeable when you see a poor stub, go to Google to try to patch it up a bit and find the WP page is #1 (often because the page title is worded obscurely).
At the moment, Google doesn't seem to be returning any wikipedia articles as hits (though it still comes up with the front page if you search for "wikipedia").
It also seems to me that it would be a good idea to include the date on which the article was in the "top ten" since the top ten is pretty dynamic over time.

The problem with 3B was that there was conjecture that certain bands that met WP:MUSIC would still fall within the criterion, as proposed.
