Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Clans of Scotland/Sample page/Clan Ross - InfoWrangler Wikipedia Snapshot
For older clan tartans, the tartan was possibly associated with the area where the clan was based (because weavers in the area used it as a kind of trademark) and it became associated with the clan as a result.
A clan is an extended family or group of families which used to act under the leadership of a clan chief.
For a clan, it's unlikely that the tartan was chosen unless the clan didn't have a tartan until very recently.

 Sport - Wikipedia
Sports such as gymnastics involve set routines, but the scoring of those routines is judged entirely on the performance of that day.
However, sport retained, and still retains an implication of respectability and seriousness that a mere "game" or "hobby" does not, and organisations responsible for leisure activities continually seek recognition as sports by joining sports federations such as the IOC.
Sport is performed primarily for the enjoyment of either or both of the participants and/or any audience watching.

Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Military history - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The pointless slots are an issue, since many battles (particularly ancient and medieval ones) will be "Unknown" for the forseeable future; but this is a flaw due to the inflexibility of {{battlebox}} (which, hopefully, can be eliminated with the new warbox/battlebox scheme), rather than with the presence of the template itself.
Battles are first and foremost historical events and using what amounts to standardized tables to describe these events is inherently problematic and unfair to the article topic.
For something like Battle of Jutland where the article is very long and the numbers are well-studied and non-controversial, a battlebox does no harm and can provide a useful summary of a complex engagement.

Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Rivers - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
River Thames, the one in Ontario is at Thames River (formerly "River Thames, Ontario"), and there is one in Connecticut that doesn't have an article (but I think the red links to it are under River Thames, Connecticut).
"River Thames" is the article on river in England with "Thames" and "Thames River" as redirects and the disambiguation stuck at the bottom.
One thing to consider is that really minor rivers that are tributaries can just be described inline in the parent river's article; there is literally nothing to say about some of the uninhabited tributaries of the Congo beyond location and length.

Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Countries - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The prevailing view at wikiproject countries is that the commonwealth footer is not among those deemed notable enough for inclusion.
For countries that are in multiple continents and regions I suggest replacing the general templates with a specific ones listing all the countries that share a continent or region.
I propose that the ISBN book identifier is added to each country as part of Infobox Country, as a part of it is specific for a country where the monograph was issued.

 Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Constellations
But IMO it is better to use the official names of the constellations instead of their English names.
Since most of the figures of the constellations are so hard to imagine (I always think that Saggittarius look like a teapot more than a centaur), adding such images would greatly enhance the articles.
I've scaled down Cetus, and replaced all constellation names with their Latin translations in all bitmaps.

Wikipedia talk:WikiProject - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
You seem to be confusing "having a WikiProject" with some kind of vote by the community that a project is a Good Thing, and that suggestions to not create such a project is a attack on the ideas of the person who wanted to do so.
It was originally conceived as a descendent project of WikiProject Drugs, dealing with one type of drug in an expanded scope- considering not only chemical factors, but also cultural/historical uses, organizing the associated plants, and so on and so forth.
I'd add that WikiProjects have been userfied since falling inactive, and it's entirely possible that an inactive project may just as easily put people off starting one as encourage them to reactivate, as they may believe there is no interest in the subject.

The London geo stub and London infobox both use the arms of the City of London as their icon.
The article, Hidden London, has been marked for "move to Wikitravel" because it appears to be more appropriate for that part of the project.
I propose that names such as Croydon, Southwark etc should as defualt be re-directs to the London boroughs of the same name, as opposed to being about the historic "core" areas of the boroughs, unless there is good reason to do otherwise.

Wikipedia talk:Boilerplate text - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The major WikiProjects (Countries, Elements and Sports) do not have these type of tags in articles (the talk pages od converted element articles mention who did the conversion and that the conversion was based on WikiProject Elements).
WikiProjects are for a set of users to agree on a set of guidelines.
So long as the article is incomplete enough that the WikiProject guidelines still have a strong potential impact on its future development, then it's reasonable to give the impression that the article is still being worked on by that jarring, unprofessional tag ^_^.
