Does anyone have a clue as to whether Wikitravel is related to Wikimedia in any way, and if so whether it was permitted to use the Creative Commons licence?
Now, I think it would be nice to have wikitravel with "us", and it would also be good if we got the trademarking etc issue settled.
Note that article naming conventions are not 100% identical, so a redirect on the Wikitravel side may be necessary.

I was embarrassed to see that Christophe had to get news about Wikitravel from Ross Mayfield’s blog, instead of from me. So I figured I’d make a late announcement about it here.
My wife Maj and I announced last week that WikiTravel and WorldSixtySix were both acquired by a company called Internet Brands, Inc. We’re going to be gradually integrating the two sites’ content and communities.

Due to both having wisely chosen to use the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike License, WikiTravel and World66 each now have slightly more and better information about Austin, Texas.
WikiTravel benefitted slightly more from the exchange, as it is easier to add useful content to.
At some point a page does get too long, but my preference is for much longer pages than most sites present — less clicking, more effective in-page searching, and less of a pain to print.
