		Wikwemikong's approach to forestry management is effective because it blends the technical and scientific nature of long-range planning with short-term benefits, effecting the concept of sustainable development.
		The LRC and the Wikwemikong Forestry Department are in the process of reviewing the timber policy, and the LRC is developing a bylaw to enforce it.
		Wikwemikong is hoping to expand these activities, and is submitting a proposal for additional training and services in fire fighting.

		In 1845, the Holy Cross Mission at Wikwemikong was entrusted to the Jesuits under whose supervision the mission developed to include schools, a training centre in agriculture and the trades, a grist mill and a church.
