Ana Cordero swore out an affidavit about the abuse, describing how her husband allegedly struck her with a telephone receiver and tried to choke her, but in court hours later, in the presence of four Red Sox officials and two lawyers for her husband, she withdrew the complaint.
Ana Cordero had planned to seek refuge with friends after the arrest, but Tierney said he told her there was little chance that her husband would be released on bail yesterday morning.
Cordero admitted to police that he had struck his wife, and they decided to arrest him, Tierney said.

The South Florida Sun-Sentinel reports Florida Marlins 1B/OF Wil Cordero said he does not have to be in Medina County (Ohio) Municipal Court Monday for a motion hearing stemming from his Dec. 18, 2003, arrest.
According to Cordero's agent, Jeffrey Moorad, Expos general manager Omar Minaya and his assistant, Tony Siegle, told Moorad at the GM meetings in Phoenix earlier in the month that the Expos hadn't received their 2004 budget yet from Major League Baseball and would get back to Moorad later to negotiate a contract.

Wilfredo Cordero Nieva (aka "Coco") (born October 3, 1971 in Mayagüez, Puerto Rico) is a left fielder in Major League Baseball.
However, Cordero became an embarressment to the organization and drew the ire of fans after he was arrested on June 10, 1997 on domestic abuse charges.
Later that month the Boston Globe published court documents from Cordero's 1993 divorce from his first wife Wanda Moro in which she alleged that he had struck her "on numerous occasions" causing "bruises and bleeding", including when she was pregnant.
