		We turned around as we saw that we are walking up too steeply and then choose the correct path that is more flat and leads into the valley.
		Wildspitze has 2 peaks, the South Peak and the North Peak.
		The South Peak is 4 meters higher (3,768m or 12,360 ft), carries the cross and is a real sharp peak, formed by rocks, ice and snow.

		We pass under the west face of the Wildspitze, reach a saddle in the Sw ridge and follow this on foot to the summit.

		Wildspitze is the highest mountain in the Ötztaler Alps, but also an evident aim for a small weekend trip, as the area is easily reached by the ropeway from Mittelberg.
		The intention was originally to be only two guys on this small trip, but as the rumour spread in the Mountain Club, that it was possible to go to Austria instead of Kullen, our local crag, for the weekend, we ended up being six guys heading for Wildspitze at the end of September 2000.
		Locally weather had been pretty bad the week up to our departure, but just as we reached Mittelbergferner and prepared for the ascent to our propsed campsite, it stopped snowing, and we were able to ascent in fairly dry conditions.

	Meisenberger Matthias: Outdoor - Alpine Touren - Wildspitze
		Im Sommer 2003, einem Jahr nach der Großglocknerbesteigung, gingen Patrick und ich die Nummer 2 von Österreich an: die Wildspitze.
		Durch erhebliche Verkehrs- sowie Navigationsprobleme kamen erst um 21:00 beim Einstieg an, weshalb wir die ersten 1000hm mit Stirnlampe bezwingen mussten. Um 23:00 erreichten wir schließlich die Breslauerhütte, wo wir ein paar Stunden Schlaf fanden, bevor es dann um 5:00 Früh zum Gipfelsturm los ging.
		Daher disponierten wir um, und wählten die längere, aber dafür auch landschaftlich schönere Route über den ofenkarferner auf die Wildspitze.
