Wilhelm Bauer - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Wilhelm Bauer (December 23, 1822 - June 20, 1875) was the German inventor and engineer, who built several hand-powered submarines.
Bauer, however, was determined to realize his plan at any cost and quitted service for the German army to join the forces of Schleswig-Holstein.
It proved very hard for Bauer, who was in the low military ranks, to bring his plan through the various instances of the military administration and to gain fundings to build his craft.

Bruno Bauer   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-08)
Bauer insisted on the immanence of the universal in history, as the record of struggles for liberation, and of alienation, which was necessary to discover the meaning of rational autonomy.
Bauer's interventions attacked the state for defending privilege, and claimed that it used religion as a mask for its interests in maintaining relations of subordination; but he also criticized Jews and their supporters for claiming freedom on the basis of a particular identity.
Bauer had earlier criticized this configuration as an outmoded form of state, to be supplanted by the republic; it now described the result of an incomplete political development, which would issue in a contention for world domination.
