Friedrich Wilhelm Sollmann (1881-1951) was a German journalist, politician, and interior minister of the Weimar Republic.
Wilhelm was born on April 1, 1881 in Oberlind, Germany (today a part of Sonneberg) and grew up in Coburg, Germany.
In 1918 Sollmann was one of the first members of the SPD ever elected to the Cologne municipal government, and remained chairman of that fraction until 1924.

Friedrich Wilhelm Sollmann, German labor leader, journalist and Reichminister, was born in 1851in Coburg, Germany.
Sollmann, who is credited with the co-founding of the University of Cologne in 1919, became editor-in-chief of the Rheinische Zeitung that same year and served in that post until 1933.
In 1920 Sollmann was elected to the first of eight terms in the Reichstag where he was to be a prominent member of the committee on foreign affairs.

1896, 3 months to the day after Wilhelm Konrad Roentgen in Germany announced the discovery of x-rays, DAYTON C. MILLER, a professor at Cleveland's Case School of Applied Science, made the first x-rays in the U.S. He lectured 2 months later to the CLEVELAND MEDICAL SOCIETY.
Endemic goiter has disappeared because of the research between 1915-20 of DAVID MARINE and CARL H. LENHART that showed that it was caused by iodine deficiency in the diet.
