 Max Weber
Max Wilhelm Carl Weber published most of his more than 150 scientific writings simply under the name Max Weber, and for this reason he should not be confused with the, also German-born, Max Weber (1864-1930), now renowned as the founder of sociology.
In the same year Weber took out papers of naturalization (the actual record of naturalization was registered 27 December 1887; Pieters and De Visser, 1985) and married Anna Antoinette van Bosse, a wealthy widow of his own age (born 27 March 1852 in Amsterdam).
After their marriage the Webers spent three summer holidays in northern Norway, he mostly to dissect whales, she to study corallines or calcareous Algae, on which she was even then already becoming the chief authority.

Weber argued that religion was one of the primary reasons for the different ways the cultures of the Occident and the Orient have developed.

Weber, Wilhelm (1804-1891)   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-07)
Wilhelm Weber was the German physicist who defined many of the units for electricity and magnetism and developed sensitive instruments to measure electrical and magnetic quantities.
It was here that Weber developed a sensitive electrodynamometer (1845) which he used to measure electric currents and also to define an electromagnetic unit for electric current.
Weber was amongst the first to suggest that electricity consisted of charged particles and it was the collisions of these particles with others that produced resistance.

Chrono-Biographical Sketch: Carl Max Wilhelm Weber
Not to be confused with his more famous namesake, the sociologist, Max Weber the zoologist forged a considerable reputation for himself as an expedition organizer and descriptive biologist.
Weber's great skill as a comparative morphologist was well-served by his associations with the zoological garden and museum in Amsterdam, as he was thus able to secure a regular stream of deceased exotic specimens for examination.
Weber's most important publication, 1904's Die Säugetiere, remained a standard text on the systematics and anatomy of mammals through much of the twentieth century; he also left behind an enviable legacy as a model teacher and professional scientist.

 The Suppressed Electrodynamics Of Ampère-Gauss-Weber
As also for his later work with Wilhelm Weber, in connection with electrical measurement, Gauss determined that the measure of magnetic force must be consistent with the units of measure of mass, length, and time, already in use in other branches of physics.
Weber shows that for Helmholtz’s fears to be realized, electrical particles would have to move at enormous relative velocities, exceeding the constant c.
Weber has already dared, in the 1870 paper, to conceive the notion we know today as the proton-electron mass ratio, which leads him to wonder as to the possible motions of the different configurations of particle pairs.

The only specific evidence presented for it to the Nuremberg Tribunal was the hearsay testimony of former SS officer Wilhelm Höttl (sometimes spelled Hoettl), who said that he recalled it from a remark by Adolf Eichmann, the wartime head of the Jewish affairs section of Himmler's Reich Security Main Office (RSHA).
Eichmann himself, it should be noted, later called the Höttl story "nonsense," vigorously denied ever having made the alleged remark, and speculated that Höttl may have picked up the figure from a radio or newspaper report.
If it were not for Wilhelm Höttl's role in branding into the world's consciousness the trademark Six Million figure, his place in history would likely be little more than a footnote.

Weber wanted to unify electricity and magnetism into a fundamental force law.
He modified the central force concepts which pervaded physics in Elektrodynamische Massenbestimmungen (Electrodynamical Measurements), (1846) by presenting a force law which was dependent on velocity and acceleration.
He conceived of current as the flow of electrons, and was much more interested in discovering mathematical formulas than in trying to understand the physics.
