William Findlay Rogers, a congressman from New York from 1883 to 1884.
William Nathaniel Rogers, a congressman from New Hampshire from 1923 to 1924 and 1931 to 1936.
There was also a nuclear submarine named USS Will Rogers (SSBN-659) and there is Will Rogers State Historic Park and Will Rogers World Airport.

 Will Rogers
Will Rogers—born on 4 November 1879 near the present town of Claremore, Okla.—received sporadic formal education between 1887 and 1898, when he left home to become a cowboy on the Ewing Ranch in Lipscomb County, Tex., near the town of Higgins.
Through Rogers' continuing series of columns between 1922 and 1935, as well as in his personal appearances and radio broadcasts, he won the loving admiration of the American people, poking jibes in witty ways at the issues of the day and prominent people— often politicians.
Will Rogers was based out of Groton, Conn., until 1974 when she shifted to a forward deployment at Rota, Spain.

The USS Will Rogers (SSBN 659) is the Navy's 68th nuclear powered submarine and the 41st of its Fleet Ballistic Missile submarine fleet.
Will Rogers began her waterborne career on 21 July, 1966 when she was launched at General Dynamics Corporation's Electric Boat Division at Groton, Connecticut.
The Will Rogers was place in commission on 1 April, 1967, with Captain R. Kaufman as Commanding Officer.

BRIEFING: The U.S. Navy's initial SSBN program is one of the finest examples in naval history of industry and government cooperation in the building of a ship, the creation of a weapon system, and the marriage of the two.
However, in 1999 the Navy began studying use of the four older Ohio-class SSBNs as platforms for land attack and special operations and, as a result, have kept all 18 in commission.
Florida will begin conversion at Norfolk Naval Shipyard, in Portsmouth, Va., in FY 2003, followed by Georgia in FY 2004.

Selected to earn his Dolphins and gain at sea experience prior to the Calhoun finishing overhaul, he spent the summer of '78 on patrol with the USS Will Rogers (SSBN 659) Blue Crew.
Kevin was selected for service aboard the USS OHIO (SSBN 726) Pre-commissioning Crew in September, '79, and completed the first Trident Fire Control School class held at the Trident Training Facility (TTF) at the Naval Submarine Base, Bangor, Washington.

Subamrines for Fish, SSBN's for States (used to be Battelships and if there were any more BB's I would reserve that for them) and Crusiers for Cities, Destoryers for famous people.
SInce you asked I will tell you what the problem with gender integration is.....but first, let me state that I agree with you the current, "drawdown that is not a drawdown" is stupid and will hurt the Navy in the long run.
Now as for mixed gender crews, it continues to amaze me, that the powers that be continue to decry the problems caused by fraternization, sexual assault and Sailors unavailable for duty when through gender integration the seeds of these very problems were sown.

The first three years consisted of boot camp, electronics technician 'A' school, nuclear power school, and nuclear prototype school in various parts of the country.
My last three years were spent onboard the USS Will Rogers (SSBN 659).
Capt."Leo" was the first to pin on my "dolphins" which initialized the ritual of tacking on those "fish" by other warm and loving, qualified brothers.....lets just say a wee bit of hazing was the norm.

Six days after throwing my hat in the air getting out of that place, I married the former MaryLynn Gresham, whom I had met at nearby Marymount College in Arlington Virginia, where she was a nursing student.
I then attended Nuclear Power Training and served aboard the USS Will Rogers (SSBN 659).
