Scottish & Newcastle, the group which owns Scottish Courage, today said that it was in advanced negotiations with members of the Theakston family to return the company, including the brewery and all associated ale brands — such as Old Peculier, Black Bull Bitter and XB - to their control.
Theakston, which was founded in 1827, was sold in 1984 and became part of Scottish Courage in 1987.
There will be no job cuts as a result of the sale, said Scottish Courage, which will retain a minority stake in the independent brewer.

OK I agree with Richard that canned beer will not be as good as bottled but if circumstances mean you must drink canned beer there are some decent cans available in the USA now.
Boddingtons is OK but you wouldn't want to drink it from the can as it has the nitrogen widget that causes it to foam, designed to produce a "draft like" head and mouthfeel when poured into a glass.
