Order of events: a phone call from a frightened woman notating the arrival of an unidentified flying object, and the check-out you've just witnessed with two state troopers verifying the event, but with nothing more enlightening to add beyond evidence of some tracks leading across the highway to a diner.
There's two married couples, a businessman, a dancer and an eccentric old man. The troopers give up the investigation when a call comes through that the bridge is safe now, and the bus may continue on.
He is the Martian, advance scout for an invasion force.

This is basically a fl humor take on the John W. Campbell story "Who Goes There?" setting it in a charming, quaint little diner full of seemingly everyday folks in isolated small town America which happens to be in the midst of winter instead of in the Antarctic.
Each character is presented in an interesting fashion and despite the short running time, nearly all of them are given individual eccentricities and quirks which may cast suspicion on each and every one of them at certain points in time making the mystery of just who the Martian is that more intriguing.
It's too bad this twist has been spoiled by too much overexposure over the years, so much so this episode never had the full impact on me I believe it would have had that not been the case.
