 RWT: Verbs
Verb conjugation refers to the endings a verb will take with each of the subject pronouns: I, you (one), he, she, it, we, you (all), they.
Both verbs will mean basically the same thing, but one will be used to describe the imperfective aspect of the action, and the other to describe the perfective aspect Let us look at some examples.
The verb that accompanies ÈÏÔÅÔØ will be in the infinitive.

 The Verb
Verbs are a necessary component of all sentences.
Verbs have two important functions: Some verbs put static objects into motion while other verbs help to clarify static objects in meaningful ways.
The following verbs are true linking verbs: any form of the verb be [am, is, are, was, were, has been, are being, might have been, etc.], become, and seem.

 Verb tenses
Present progressive verbs are formed by using a present tense auxiliary verb and marking the main verb with an [ing] ending.
Past progressive verbs are formed by using a past tense auxiliary verb and marking the main verb with an [ing] ending.
Students are given the present tense form of the verb and are asked to generate both the irregular past and the past participle.

Grammatical voice indicates whether the subject is the performer of the action of the verb (active voice), or the subject is the recipient of the action (passive voice).
It is an important distinction to understand (and it will be discussed more fully later) that the only place in which 'time' comes to bear directly upon the tense of a verb is when the verb is in the indicative mood.
The Greek infinitive is the form of the verb that is usually translated into English with the word "to" attached to it, often used to complement another verb.

 Verbs and Verbals
Verbs that are intransitive do not require objects: "The building collapsed." In English, you cannot tell the difference between a transitive and intransitive verb by its form; you have to see how the verb is functioning within the sentence.
Verbs can be combined with different prepositions and other words, sometimes with dizzying effect: stand out, stand up, stand in, stand off, stand by, stand fast, stand pat, stand down, stand against, stand for.
These verb tenses don't have to be identical as long as they reflect, logically, shifts in time and meaning: "My brother had graduated before I started college." "My brother will have graduated before I start." Click HERE for a chart describing various time relationships and how those relationships determine the appropriate sequence of verb tenses.

VERB STRUCTURE - KISWAHILI GRAMMAR NOTES
In some verb tenses, these monosyllabic verbs will retain the infinitive marker ku- as part of the verb construction, as in wanakula (wa-na-ku-l-a), they are eating.
Another kind of verb construction in Swahili puts the verb into the subjunctive mood, which indicates a willingness or desire that an action should be taken (see the 5th and 6th examples on the chart above).
Stative verbs express an existing state of affairs that may have been reached by unknown means, therefore the ME tense is useful in expressing "this state of affairs has been reached": Kikombe kimevunjika, the cup has got broken; in better English, the cup is broken.

The other is the potential form of the verb, typically constructed by adding られる to the base (一段 verbs) or adding る to a potential base formed by changing the last kana of the plain form from the う column to the え column (読む to 読める, 話す to 話せる, etc.) (五段 verbs).
The causative form of a verb indicates that someone is made or allowed to perform the action.
Strictly speaking, it is not a conjugation at all, as it usually involves the addition of the auxiliary だろう (formal: でしょう) to the informal form of the verb, both non-past and past.

Since the verb will be invoked with the command, "drink pepsi", the "this" argument, or direct object, refers to the object itself.
Usually this will entail a syntax error, such as forgetting a semi-colon at the end of a statement, or forgetting to surround a string with two sets of double quotes.

 The Basics of Verbs
Determining whether the verb indicates an action or a state of being is easier with a clear understanding of verb tense and structure.
In other words, it is less important for the average journalist to know that in the sentence "Bill is running," the verb "is running" is in the present progressive tense than it would be to know that "running" is the main verb and "is " acts as its helper.
Writers would be wise to recognize that the verb is the force behind the sentence and, therefore, will improve their writing by being able to recognize what the verb is and how it is being used.

People may sometimes tell you that there is no difference between shall and will, or even that today nobody uses shall (except in offers such as "Shall I call a taxi?").
The difference between shall and will is often hidden by the fact that we usually contract them in speaking with 'll.
The truth is that there are two conjugations for the verb will:

While skeptical that Verb might help bring short fiction out of the doldrums, Wang believes that short fiction can only be saved by one thing: good writers.
