 William Croft (1678-1727)
In fact, although the first is ascribed at the end to "Mr William Croft" the second has no title and is anonymous.
Croft’s main output was sacred music, and apart from some celebratory Odes, he did not produce a great deal of secular music.
This was probably a ‘vanity’ publication, but Croft attributed its production to his friends’ insistence.

 HOASM: William Croft
Croft wrote sacred and secular vocal and instrumental music, but concentrated chiefly on sacred compositions (many with some sort of instrumental accompaniment) after the first few years of the 18th century.
The 2-volume collection Musica sacra consists entirely of Croft's sacred music, engraved in score (a novelty in printed polyphony) and published by the composer in 1724.
Perhaps the most substantial of the secular compositions are those written for the degree of D.Mus., received from Oxford in 1713: two odes for solo voices, chorus, and orchestra, published in 1715 as Musicus apparatus academicus.

A very popular figure of whom everyone spoke well, William Boyce's Eight Symphonies were published by Walsh in London in 1760 and were titled as: "Eight Symphonies in eight parts.
The first half of the 18th century was a prosperous time for England, and for London especially, expressing itself among other ways in the form of private and public music-making, in homes, theatres and public gardens.

William CROFT Complete Harpsichord Works [KM]: Classical Reviews- August 2001 MusicWeb(UK)
William Croft was born in Nether Ettington, near Stratford-upon-Avon, in England.
Croft takes this and weaves a beautiful series of brief variations around it, ranging from simple chords to long, sinuous melodic runs.
This is an arrangement, probably by Croft himself, of two works he submitted for his doctorate at Oxford University.

 William Croft
I am completely addicted to this album: it has just the right combination of this period's classics (Purcell), spiritual music (J.C. Bach, excerpt from Handel's "Messiah"), tunes from the playhouse (Gay, Croft), and popular airs (please listen to "Gillicrankie" or "Kettle Drum") that I think I must...

Meaning and understanding happen in interaction in language use: meaning creation is an active process (Croft and Cruse, Cognitive Linguistics, 2004).
The processes of meaning and understanding in language, and the diversity of the languages of the world, have always fascinated me, and have guided my linguistic research.
Diversity in language requires that we place linguistic variation at the center of our models of grammar ( Typology and universals, 2nd edition 2003).
