  William Bingham, 1752-1804
William Bingham was born on April 8, 1752 to William and Mary Stamper Bingham in Philadelphia.
Bingham served on the committee to negotiate a land purchase for the college from the government in November 1786, and two years later assisted the College in its plans to solicit relief from the Pennsylvania Assembly.
From 1790 to 1795, Bingham served in the Pennsylvania Assembly, and was a United States Senator from 1795 to 1801.

William and Anne Bingham moved to England for most of the 1780s; from here William invested much of his wealth in land speculation, mostly in New York and Maine.
Bingham served as a trustee of the College and Academy of Philadelphia from 1789 to 1791, and when the the College was united with the University of the State of Pennsylvania to form the University of Pennsylvania, he served as a trustee of this institution from 1791 until his death.

 Cpt. Robert Bingham, Co.G, 44th Regiment NC Troops
Robert Bingham was born in 1838 at Hillsborough, NC, the son of William James and Eliza (Norwood) Bingham.
Later, while Robert went away to command Company G of the 44th Regiment NC Troops during the war, William continued to serve the Confederacy as headmaster of the academy, which was incorporated as a military academy in 1863, himself receiving the rank of colonel.
William bought out the interest in the school from his cousin and brother in-law in 1865, becoming the sole proprietor of the school.

Why didn't the following kit match the Bigham's  above, since the original ancestor is the same?  Generation 4 had a Non-Paternal Event, in other words, Miss Bingham had children by an unnamed man, but raised them with the Bigham surname.  Their son, Isaac's dna would have matched his father.
John B. Bingham was first found in early Georgia records.
It appears that there are cases where it is impossible to tell whether  or not the Bighams and Binghams were separate genetic families.
