William Bonin - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
His father was a compulsive gambler and alcoholic, and his mother frequently left Bonin and his brother in the care of their grandfather, a convicted child molester.
By 1979, Bonin was back on the streets, and reportedly told a friend that he had no intention of going back to prison; not because he was going to give up preying on youngsters, but because he had no intention of leaving witnesses.
Bonin killed three more boys in March, another three in April and two in May. The final victim was a teenager named Steven Wells, who was killed on 2 June 1980.

A man that somehow could tie Bonin to the murders came forth and a statement Bonin made to the boy he was jailed for raping in 1976, that he "loved picking up hitchhikers and strangling them", caused police to put a tail on the sex offender.
Bonin was eventually convicted in 1982 of 10 counts of murder (though he later finally admitted to 21 total kills), sentenced to death in this murderous soap opera, and executed on February 23, 1996.
