The conviction of William Lee Cranston, 34, of Studio City, who pleaded guilty Thursday afternoon to one count of bank fraud, caps a nine-year investigation that has now convicted 20 defendants linked to the scheme that resulted in millions of dollars in losses to several lenders.
Cranston fled to Mexico, where he lived under the alias Oswaldo Ochoa, and he later moved to Florida and Las Vegas, using the alias Ross Hellman.
Cranston is scheduled to be sentenced on March 3, 2003 by United States District Judge A. Howard Matz.

Sign says Cranston cemetery #29, should be #20 This cemetery has been recorded but not checked.
There was a family genealogy and papers from an 1866 family reunion in Cranston at the old farm (some say a family bible) in a steel box in a compartment in the monument put there in 1866.
We should think from personal knowledge in past few years that there was about 20 interments here of what particular family we know not, but have been informed it was used as a common burial ground to some extent by those in the immediate neighborhood.

This unique quilt top was a highlight of the Cranston Historical Society's and Cranston Print Works' Millennium display at the Sprague Meeting House.
Log Cabin quilts go back to the days of slavery when displayed on a clothes line if the block in the middle was fl it meant a safe house for slaves seeking freedom.
This quilt was found stored at the Joy Homestead in Western Cranston and the history of how it came to the Society is unknown.
