The Fleming Collection consists of works that constitute the largest body of Scottish art in private hands; as such, it’s uniquely positioned to organise exhibitions that provide insightful journeys into Scottish movements as well as providing overviews of individual artists.
The current exhibition brings together the work of Anne Redpath, William Crozier, Sir William George Gillies, John Maxwell and Sir William MacTaggart.
All alumnae of the Edinburgh College of Art and linked by their exposure to French painting, their focus on landscape and still-life and their use of a Fauvist palette, they were a leading group that became the natural successors to the Scottish Colourist movement.
