 William Hall-Jones - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
William Hall-Jones (1851-1936) was Prime Minister of New Zealand from June 1906 until August 1906.
He succeeded William Pember Reeves as High Commissioner for New Zealand in London in December 1908, returned to New Zealand at the end of his term in 1912, and was appointed to the Legislative Council by Massey.

William Hall Jones was born on 16 January 1851 at Folkestone, Kent, England, the son of William Hall Jones and his wife, Margaret Hall.
He so impressed Seddon with his carefully thought-out arguments, his candour and his abstention from personalities that in February 1896, when William Pember Reeves resigned to become agent general for New Zealand in the United Kingdom, Hall-Jones was invited to fill the cabinet vacancy as minister of justice.
On his return to New Zealand in 1913 Prime Minister William Massey, the leader of Hall-Jones's political opponents, invited him to become a member of the Legislative Council.

Jones described the food served as "produce of his estate, or what was procured from the woods and rivers"such as venison, bear, fish, and wild birds.
However, the locations of each in relation to the flankers and the Hall are almost identical, lending support to the theory; the structure found in the 1950s (and interpreted by the author as Johnson's study) was located 38 feet from the Hall and 17 feet from the west flanker.
The heel-less form of this pipe bowl from Johnson Hall strongly suggests that it was made in Bristol for American consumption and that the maker was consequently Thomas Dennis, who was apprenticed to Robert Tippet in 1723, became a freeman in 1734, and was still active in 1781.

The earliest mention of Hall's name in a documented statement indicates that he was the slave of a Boston leather-dresser named William Hall in the late 1740s.
Hall did not hold all white men accountable for the institution of slavery; in fact, he hoped that with the support of like-minded whites, black men could help bring about abolition through persuasion.
On January 13, 1777, Hall was among eight black petitioners to the Massachusetts state legislature requesting the abolition of slavery in the state.
