  WILLIAM HENRY CROSSLAND 3
Crossland continued to live in London, in 1894 he was at 18 Great George Street, Westminster, and for a time round the turn of the century he was at 25 Abchurch Lane.
The fact that Crossland left no bequest to his daughter in his Will, which was drawn up well before her death, is not altogether surprising, she had a substantial inheritance from her maternal grandmother, and her husband was probably quite well to do.
William Stanton Lart, an Oxford graduate, was an accountant and the secretary of a public company, probably Lart and Co., mine owners and agents in the City.

 WILLIAM HENRY CROSSLAND 1
Henry Crossland was married on 19th August 1832 at Huddersfield Parish Church to Ellen Wilkinson when both were said to be of that parish: he was able to sign the register, Ellen made her mark.
Henry Crossland was several times churchwarden at St. John's, Bay Hall, in the 1850s and 1860s from which circumstance one might well have expected to find his sons baptised.
If Crossland went to one of the latter, and it is probable that their modern syllabuses would have appealed to a man of Henry Crossland's practical calling, it would almost certainly have been the Collegiate, for the two represented differing religious convictions.

When questions about drug acquisition were field tested in focus groups of arrestees, the answers confirmed what ethnographers have often reported (e.g., Williams 1992): A substantial portion of the drug trade at the street level consists of combinations of goods and services exchanged in addition to or in place of cash.
For example, some focus group participants said that for their most recent purchase of heroin they had paid the seller $25 and a radio for five "dime bags." If the cash part of this transaction and no other part were taken into account, the assumption would be that five bags of heroin were worth $25.
The media was quick to report on the high levels of violence associated with the emerging trade in crack cocaine (Massing 1989, and Witkin 1991).

In fact, it was his wife who was to suggest a college for women as the means by which Holloway's money might effect what, in his own words, he wanted to achieve: `the greatest public good'.
The architect of the College, William Henry Crossland, had been selected by competition to design Holloway's first great philanthropic enterprise — the Sanatorium at Virginia Water, begun in 1873 and opened in 1885.
Holloway was much involved in determining the style of the new College, finally settling for a flamboyant interpretation of the French Renaissance.
