  William Joynson-Hicks, 1st Viscount Brentford - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
William Joynson-Hicks, 1st Viscount Brentford 23 June 1865-8 June 1932, popularly known as Jix, was a UK Conservative politician, most known for his tenure as Home Secretary during which he gained a reputation for strict authoritarianism.
He was born William Hicks to Henry Hicks and Grace Lynn in 1865 and educated at Merchant Taylors' School.

The name Brentford was recorded from 705 and has generally been assumed to refer to the ford over the Brent or 'holy water', although it may have referred to the crossing of the Thames.
From the late 1st century A.D. Brentford was a settlement on the road from London to the west.
Brentford town, including some houses in Isleworth parish, was estimated to have 8,870 inhabitants in 1851 and 11,091 in 1871.
